We are proud to finally announce the long-awaited Operation: Dessert Storm rebrand… Toontown Hostile Takeover—A complete overhaul that takes gameplay to a whole new level while keeping the spirit of Toontown Online!
"Why rebrand in the first place?"
Since Operation: Dessert Storm's launch in 2016, the team has undergone numerous changes in both management and staff. This has unfortunately resulted in a lack of clear direction for the game, leading to inconsistent and under-developed content. Given the circumstances, we figured we'd create a unified vision for the game.
Our mission is to create a high-quality Toontown experience that brings Toontown to its full potential, modernizing the classic turn-based battle system and other gameplay, while keeping the artstyle in-line with the classic Toontown we all know and love.
Originally, we had spent time and resources updating Operation: Dessert Storm, but realized what we were making, just simply wasn't ODS anymore. Hence, we decided to update our branding to better reflect who we are today.
"What can we expect from Hostile Takeover?"
We have plans to deliver well-developed, quality content such as:
- A new battle system, rewritten from the ground up!
- Environment overhauls including revamped Playgrounds, new background elements, day and night cycles, and a weather system to give the game more life
- A modernized camera and movement system
- Updated Toon heads, bodies, clothing, and accessories, including new species!
- New neighborhoods inspired by concepts from Toontown Online
- A new Toontorial taking place in Toontown Central’s latest area, Screwball Square!
- 16 new miniboss Cogs, The Junior Executives!
- Special Cog attacks and abilities called “Power Moves”
- A streamline, more story-centric, less tedious taskline featuring old and new characters
- And much, MUCH more!
After our FULL rebrand, we plan to reveal more upcoming Hostile Takeover content, engage more with our community through social media, and keep everyone TOONED IN with continuous comics, memes, and more!

As you know, most of our social media pages including our website were outdated. That’s why we’ve completely remade these pages from the ground up, giving us a new look that reflects our current branding.
