Mayor Flippy • Wednesday, 01 April 2026fellow toons, it is time for innovation.
while some fellow toons may disagree, the objective truth is toontown is outdated. fellow toons are at large whether to innovate with loony labs newest prototype the phunny phone. fellow toons the stickerbook community is upset and have been destroying toontown. fellow toons what a mess around toontown they’ve made. fellow toons i keep getting threatening texts from the stickerbook fellow toons how is the stickerbook texting me without a phunny phone?

Ok so fellow phunny toons there’s a new tunnel, the Toon Council has been working on a new street reconstruction project but these phunny phone protesters have ruined a once beautiful street as part of their shtick. Fellow toons, as the C.J. would say this side of Cog Nation, This is an injustice! Fellow toons, i need your help to stop this, just enter the tunnel and follow the stairs leading up to find your way.
hello everyone i present to you the update i have been working on in complete secrecy from everyone else (except henry he knows):
toontown operation dessert storm: operation hoshtile takeover
- the shticker book isnt happy about being replaced and is attempting a hoshtile takeover of toontown
- the shticker book has replaced much of toontown's music with superior versions
- please stop him from taking over toontown
- theres a mysterious tunnel in toontown central near the shcool house
- you should bring a kart it seems long
Notes
- This update will run until May 1st, 2026.
- Toon data will not be reverted as this update does not impact the progression of the game.
- This update includes a couple of features from Toontown: Hostile Takeover intended to gage some feedback. This will be reverted once April Toons' is over (May 1st), but please provide feedback on these changes so we can make Hostile Takeover the best it can be!
- Since this is based on a very early build of Hostile Takeover, some ODS specific features may operate slightly differently or not at all. Again, this will all be reverted on May 1st.
Camera & Movement
- The camera & movement systems have been overhauled
- There are two control modes:
- The classic "tank" style controls - these are in use during normal movement
- A new Modern directional control scheme - this is in use while holding right-click
- Holding right click now allows you to rotate the camera separately from the toon
- Moving while in this mode will move you relative to the angle of the camera based on the directional keyboard or touch input
- Note: There are currently no position presets, though these will return in Hostile Takeover. For now, Tab simply resets to the default angle.
- There is a new tab in the options page for camera settings which contains the following settings:
- Toggle Camera Control: This changes the right-click function from holding to toggle
- Camera Sensitivity: This changes the speed of the right-click camera rotation
- Reduce Camera Movement: This removes the smoothing effect of the camera
Trolley
- The Trolley no longer immediately brings you into a random game, instead it starts with our brand new Trolley Tracks
- Trolley Tracks has been overhauled to be a quick and fun process
- Each player will get 4 votes to cast between 4 randomly chosen games
- Each vote increases the percent chance of that game being chosen
- At the end of the countdown, or when all players press "Lock In", the wheel will spin to choose the game
- Each game is automatically given one vote by the system - this means that even if everyone votes for one game, there's a really small chance the other game gets picked. This is done to create some diversity in gameplay
- This build does not include proper models and animations that will be present in the final game - the final game will include an animation showing the selected game
- Trolley Tracks has been overhauled to be a quick and fun process
- Toon Memory Game has returned - while this game is infamously not liked by some, our new Trolley Tracks system allows you to vote against playing this game if you don't like it, while allowing players who do enjoy it to once again play
- Added experimental support for 8 players on a Trolley
- For this April Fools' update, it will intentionally look a little goofy, we are still figuring out how it will actually look in the real game
- Currently this includes Toon Memory Game, Cannon Game, Toon Tag, Jungle Vines, Race Game, Ice Slide, Toon Escape, Cog Thief, and Toon Slingshot
- Visual issues will definitely show up - Some GUIs (like the end of the game scores) are broken
Misc
- Implemented a new shader for street modules to eliminate seams on the street textures
- Building Nametags in the margins now only display when within a certain distance of the building - this replicates the behavior of Toontown Online
- Reverted a change made in early Operation: Dessert Storm which made streets load piece by piece while traversing them instead of upon entry. While this improved loading times, it created massive stutters during actual gameplay. You should now see substantially improved street performance with the trade-off of (very very) slightly longer loading times (you might not even see a loading time increase!)
- NPCs and Cog Nametags in the margins now only display when within a certain distance - this will clear up UI clutter especially when in populated areas, like Cashbot HQ
- When you are too close to another Toon, they will fade out (Toon collisions will be fully removed in Hostile Takeover)
- Your Toon will fade out when the camera is too close to it
- Improvements to the accuracy of the loading bar on loading screens
- The loading screen no longer shows if the loading process is expected to be super quick
- Nametags colors have been changed back to the values from Toontown Online
